Hi, I am Leon Gettler, a corporate comms copywriter specialising in brand building for real estate agents, mortgage brokers, property finance companies, accountants, bookkeepers and financial planners. I build their brands with blogs, newsletters, ads and website copy by telling their stories. Every company has a story. I also focus on their target markets, the pain points of their customers and how they can solve their customers’ problems.

If you need me to build your brand, contact me on 0411 745 193 or email me at leon@leongettler.com.

You know your business better than anyone. And chances are, you’ve already got ChatGPT open in another tab.

It can give you ideas. Draft a blog. Rewrite a headline. Even knock out a newsletter in seconds.

But there’s a difference between words that sound good and words that sound like you.

Because when it comes to your website, blogs, newsletters, podcasts and marketing, you don’t just need more content. You need the right words — words that understand your business, speak to your customers, capture your personality and give people a reason to choose you.

ChatGPT can help you write. A copywriter helps you say something worth reading.

AI is a tool, not a writer. AI is not replacing writers, and it’s not doing the majority of the work for you. The human is still the person steering the ship; therefore, it’s still the human’s work, not AI.

Here are 7 reasons — and an honest look at why “I’ll just do it myself” or “I’ll just use AI” both quietly cost you more than they save:

1. Your expertise is not the same skill as writing about your expertise

You can build your business. That doesn’t mean you can explain it in a way that hooks a stranger scrolling on their phone. AI can’t do it as well as you. A copywriter’s job is translation: turning your expertise into language someone unfamiliar with it can understand and act on. By persuading a company’s target audience that purchasing their product or service will provide them with value, well-written content will help you company meet its profit goals. Companies have realised the importance of having an online presence, hence them needing a professional website to market their goods online to attract a wider variety of consumers from around the world; this means copywriters are in demand more than ever.

2. AI doesn’t know your business — it knows patterns

AI tools are excellent at producing plausible-sounding sentences. What they can’t do is know how you do differently than competitors for reasons only you can articulate. Sure. AI fills gaps with generic phrasing. It sounds fine but says nothing. A copywriter interviews you, digs for the specific detail, and writes from real material — not from statistical guesswork about what copy “usually” sounds like. Yes, ChatGPT is a brilliant tool. You can get it to spit out tonnes of content in mere moments. But if what you want is more nuanced than that, you’re still going to need a human to sit and type those words for you.

3. AI writing is easy to spot — and it’s starting to hurt credibility

Readers, editors, and even search engines are getting sharper at detecting AI-generated text: the same rhythm, the same hedging phrases, the same suspiciously balanced paragraphs. Once a reader clocks that your “personal” newsletter reads like everyone else’s AI-assisted newsletter, trust erodes fast. According to Klaviyo’s 2026 AI Consumer Trends Report, only 13% of consumers completely trust AI. 36% somewhat trust it, and 30% are neutral.  A copywriter builds a voice that’s actually yours — inconsistent in the right ways, opinionated, recognizably human..

4. DIY writing eats the time you should be spending on your actual job

Writing well takes real hours: research, drafting, editing, staring at a sentence for ten minutes because it’s almost right. When professionals write their own content, it’s usually the first thing dropped when things get busy — which is exactly why so many company blogs have a great post from 2022 and nothing since. Outsourcing isn’t laziness; it’s recognizing that your hour is worth more spent on clients, product, or strategy than on wordsmithing a paragraph. Social media    is one of the best ways to reach your target audience in seconds, but it takes time and effort. A copywriter can write, schedule and post for you across your entire social media platform.

5. Strategy matters as much as sentences

Good copy isn’t just “well-written” — it’s built to do something: get a click, build trust, move someone toward a decision. AI can generate text on request, but it doesn’t inherently understand your funnel or your audience’s specific hesitations. AI can help you create more marketing, but it cannot decide what your business should be known for.  It cannot work out your strategic position, understand the emotional hesitation behind your customer’s buying decision or magically turn a vague offer into something people immediately understand and want.  If the message is confused, AI won’t fix it.  A copywriter brings both craft and strategy — not just word count.

6. Consistency across formats is a specialized skill

Website copy, blog posts, newsletters, and podcast scripts all have different jobs, rhythms, and reader expectations — but they need to sound like the same brand. Doing that consistently, across formats, month after month, is genuinely hard to sustain solo or by prompting AI fresh each time with no memory of what came before. Consistent branding ensures all your marketing and communication sounds like one cohesive thing, not several disjointed versions of it. And when done right, consistent brand voice builds recognition, trust, and customer confidence and makes collaboration across marketing, sales, and service easier.  A copywriter holds the throughline: the voice, the positioning, the recurring themes that make your content feel like one coherent presence instead of scattered, disconnected posts.

7. Editing AI output is its own (underrated) job

Even professionals who use AI as a starting point often underestimate how much real editing that output needs —  all that work fact-checking, cutting the fluff, injecting a genuine anecdote, fixing the flattened tone. Editing AI drafts well is a skill of its own, one most non-writers haven’t developed and don’t have time to develop. A copywriter either writes from scratch with real craft, or edits AI drafts with a trained eye — either way, the heavy lifting of making it good still happens, just not by you. An AI draft is not a bad piece of writing. That is what makes it difficult to edit. It is grammatical, well-organised, on-topic, and almost entirely without a point of view. The failure mode is not error but blandness — text that covers a subject without ever committing to anything about it.  A copywriter will fix that. A copywriter edits AI content.

Want your content to actually sound like you — not like everyone else’s AI draft?

I’m Leon Gettler, an experienced writer who can help you get the strategy, voice, and craft right — whether that’s writing from scratch or editing your AI drafts into something with a real point of view.
