The clock is ticking. Payday Super is now law and from 1 July 2026, every Australian employer must pay super contributions on the same day as wages — received by the fund within 7 business days. That means employers will be required to pay their employees’ superannuation guarantee (SG) at the same time as their salary and wages. From 1 July 2026, super must be paid on payday. So no more quarterly cycles.
Accountants have the technical answers. But do their clients actually understand what’s coming? Accountants have problems communicating this to their clients in plain English. The lead-up to 1 July 2026 is one of the busiest periods in recent memory for accountants. Payday Super readiness assessments, system reviews, client consultations, and compliance work leave little room for writing — let alone writing well. They just don’t have time. Also, a single explainer email is manageable. A full content strategy — alerts, blogs, social posts, event invitations, guides, service pages — requires sustained effort over months. And when you’re working with billable hours, who has the time?
There are seven ways a copywriter can help them
1
Translating compliance jargon into plain English your clients will actually read. Clear communication enhances an accountant’s professional image by demonstrating their expertise and attention to detail. Well-written, error-free copy reflects professionalism and a commitment to quality, which instills confidence in potential clients. It also positions accountants as knowledgeable authorities in their field, helping them build trust and credibility with both current and prospective clients A copywriter transforms technical obligations into clear, conversational language that triggers action — not confusion. If clients don’t understand it, they won’t act on it. A copywriter converts compliance into clarity.
2
Writing client alerts that don’t get ignored or deleted An accountant’s email typically starts with “Please be advised that from 1 July 2026…” — and most clients skim past it by line three. A copywriter crafts subject lines, opening hooks, and urgency frameworks that make the message impossible to ignore. Emails represent an investment. Namely an investment of time and labour in accountant email marketing for potential returns on an email’s content, whether monetary, engagement, or brand affinity returns. Naturally, if a prospective/existing client doesn’t open emails, the investment—and any potential returns—go down the drain. The difference between a client who prepares early and one who panics in June is often a single well-written email. A copywriter provides client emails that get opened and acted on.
3
Building a content library that positions the firm as the Payday Super authority Payday Super is the biggest change to Australia’s super system since 1992. Firms that publish clear, helpful content now will own search rankings, referrals, and client trust for years. A copywriter builds blog posts, FAQs, checklists, and LinkedIn content that makes accounting practice the obvious choice for business owners who are nervous about getting this wrong. Authority isn’t claimed — it’s written. A copywriter creates SEO content that brings clients.
4
Crafting onboarding materials for clients who are new to payroll compliance. Client onboarding for accounting firms is a systematic process that integrates new customers into your service delivery model. It’s more than just signing a contract; it’s about building trust, establishing clear communication channels, and setting realistic expectations. Many of clients are small business owners who’ve never thought deeply about super. Now they need to understand pay cycles, clearing house transitions, STP reporting of Qualifying Earnings, and the closure of the ATO’s SBSCH — all at once. A copywriter creates step-by-step onboarding guides and checklists that walk these clients through exactly what to do, in the order they need to do it. Less hand-holding. The result: more confident, compliant clients
5
Writing high-converting service page copy for Payday Super advisory packages If the accountant is offering a Payday Super readiness review, a transition service package, or ongoing payroll compliance support — the firm will need copy that sells it. Accountants are trained to deliver services, not market them. A copywriter frames the real risks (penalties up to 200% of unpaid SGC), speaks directly to client fears, and presents the service as the obvious, reassuring solution. Expertise deserves words that do it justice. A copywriter creates service pages that win new engagements.
6
Producing social media content that keeps the firm top of mind through the transition. The months leading up to 1 July 2026 are a golden window for accountants to build visibility. The best way to do that is with social media. In social media, sacrifices are often rewarded. Posting questions or responding to them with helpful advice helps build trust with people. It also positions the firm as a place to create meaningful links to the website to get new traffic visiting the site and viewing services. LinkedIn posts, short-form explainers, and timely updates show prospective clients the accountant is across the changes before they even call. A copywriter manages the content calendar, writes the posts, and maintains a consistent voice — so the firm stays visible while it stays focused on client work. Showing up consistently before the deadline earns trust that lasts long after it. Social content that builds the pipeline.
7
Scripting webinars, seminars, and client education events on Payday Super. Many accounting firms are hosting information sessions for clients. A copywriter scripts the presentation narrative, writes the invitations, drafts the follow-up emails, and creates the takeaway resources — so the event lands with impact and the room leaves ready to act. Knowledge gets the delivery it deserves, and clients leave with the clarity they need.
