SOCIAL MEDIA IS NOW A KEY INFLUENCER FOR MARKETS AND NO COPYWRITER SHOULD IGNORE IT.

The stats tell the story. According to e-marketer, 90.4% of Millennials, 77.5% of Generation X, and 48.2% of Baby Boomers were active on social media in 2019. And according to another survey, 68% of consumers agree that.

So Social Media is critical.

HERE ARE MY 5 WAYS TO WRITE USING SOCIAL MEDIA:

1. Keep it brief.

I always keep it brief and to the point because the average attention span of a millennial is a whopping 12 seconds. And for Gen Zers, that number is an even lower at 8 seconds. That means I have to keep it short. I get straight to the point instead of beating around the bush. I don’t use fluff. I make the copy easy to read and understand.

2. Make it conversational

I treat the exercise as a conversation. Making it conversational means I use plain language, with pronouns, to ensure my client sounds like a human being and not a robot, someone people can relate to. People pay more attention to a copy that is directly talking to them.  They don’t like copy conveying a message or selling something.

3. Use links

Using links on my client’s website is good for SEO and provides readers with material that’s easy to follow on social media. And the links shared on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn are tracked and Google Analytics allows us to see how many people are visiting my client’s website.

4. Solve the reader’s problem

Basically, the social media should be talking about the reader’s problems and how my client’s products and services can solve them, using the problem-agitate-solve  formula.

5. Use a great call to action.

Every post on social media is an opportunity to know more about my client’s audience and get their email. So, I give them a chance to engage by using a strong CTA.
