I HAVE HAD TWO CLIENTS APPROACH ME TO DO VIDEO SCRIPTS FOR THEIR BUSINESS.

One video script was for a big real estate firm in the Melbourne CBD and the other one was for an electricity contractor.

A video is a great way to engage customers, summarise who you are, showcase your products and boost your SEO. Businesses are starting to recognise that a short video can be a great assert to their website. After all, why should their customers read all that copy when they can just watch it on a video?

HERE ARE MY 5 TIPS FOR SCRIPTING VIDEOS:

1. Writing the video script

The process of writing the video script is simple enough. Choose your target audience, set a goal so that you have a key focus, make sure you have a main character and write a brief.

2. Create a hook

Creating a hook means you have to hook your audience in the first few seconds. Microsoft has found that our attention span is now just 8 seconds, about the same a goldfish so you have to write the script for a video that has an impact straight away.

3. Make it concise

The key to a good video script is to keep it short, simple and direct.

4. End it with a strong call to action

A good call to action prompts the viewer to actually do something. It’s the virtual handshake to close the deal.

5. Write it for Google

Videos are known to increase the time people on a site. That makes the perfect for SEO. Videos on websites bring in the most organic traffic.
