AS WE GO TO THE END OF 2022, IT IS TIME FOR ALL BUSINESSES TO THINK ABOUT HOW THEY WILL DO THEIR CHRISTMAS CAMPAIGNS.
YES IT’S OCTOBER BUT IT’S 75 DAYS BEFORE CHRISTMAS. TIME TO START PLANNING NOW
With everyone sending holiday themed emails and promoting Christmas sales, it’s important that I don’t just add to the noise as a copywriter.
HERE ARE MY 7 TIPS FOR CHRISTMAS COPYWRITING:
1. Understand your audience.
The critical thing for me will be to understand my client’s audience. What kind of products are they buying during the holiday season? Why do they buy these? How can we make their online experience a breeze? Do they want to go back to their families and loved ones with meaningful marketing messages?
2. Sprinkle the copy with festive key words.
Key words for Christmas are really important at this time. Examples would include Jingle bells, ho, ho, ho, deck the halls, Xmas decorations, decorative lights, and naughty or nice.
3. Jazz things up
It’s always a good idea to use some well-placed gifs during the holiday season, just to get people in the mood. Giphy and Vista Create have some terrific gifs that I can use.
4. Make them laugh
I like to make people smile at this time of year. I use funny posts and pictures with humor around all the usual holiday topics. I’ll use witty jokes, funny pictures and one-liners. There is no shortage of Christmas jokes.
5. Free gifts
Christmas might be all about gift giving but I will make sure my client offers free gifts for the holiday season for customers who place orders. This will strengthen the bond with customers. Christmas giveaways are a great way a great way to get my client’s customers into the spirit of the season and keep my client top of mind even after the festive season is over.
6. Include donations
Christmas is a time for giving. I will make sure I that I team up with a charity and organize a fundraising campaign for Christmas. There are many Christmas charities to choose from. I will inform my client’s customers that we’re supporting a local/global social cause and that we will donate a percentage of all holiday season sales to this organization.
7. Send a Christmas card
In an age of people being inundated with emails, I will make sure I will send clients a printed Christmas card. I will include a small gift, like a discount code, to make the experience more memorable.
